Cape Rep. Rob Foreman has reported that 7 boats took part in the points regatta (an improvement from previous years - making Dabchicks one of the bigger classes at the event). Light winds prevailed meaning that the two mylar sails present were difficult to compare to the other dacron sails.
After four races the results were:
- James Stock ( ZYC)
- Jon Kukard ( IYC)
- Jason Grey ( MAC)
- Kevin Foreman (IYC)
- Jacques Louw (MAC)
- Jeremy Foreman (IYC)
- Marc Andrew Wilson (IYC)
Rob also writes “We were all very impressed with Jacques Louw & Jason from MAC. The competition at the Junior Nationals at December is heating up.”

The Rankings have been updated see the page on the right. KZN Provincials still need to be included as they will only be sailed at Midmar this weekend.

I have updated the National Rankings, but as only one provincial has been sailed, they only reflect the postions after Western Cape. The next 3 Provincials all happen around September this year,so watch this spot.
Please mail me with any corrections etc

The following article was sent in to me at sailing360 by user DyR (one guess at who that is…) - see the original article here.
The 2007 MANEX SAS Western Cape regatta was a good one. Although only 6 races were sailed in the Dabchick fleet, it was challenging racing.
The first day the wind blew and it was the likes of the larger sailors who claimed the 1st’s. The first race went to Ross Dyer, with David Eastman andJJ Liddiard all following respectively. The second Race of the Day was won by Andrew Hill who was chased by James Stock and Ross Dyer.
On the second day the winds blew less significantly than the first however there was still plenty of wind. All the three races were won by Ross Dyer, seconds went to James Stock, Andrew Hill and Danny Jarvis.
On Sunday the wind was non existent and no races were completed.
Mon Brought with it some light to medium wind. One race was Sailed and places went to 1st; Ross Dyer, 2nd; Daniel Moreau, 3rd; Alexander Mc Clarty.
All enjoyed the event and well done to all the sailors…Till next time…

Dispite their apparent inability to appear on the SAS website I managed to find the Dabchick results, on the Optimist website no less. Here they are, I’ll put together some rankings when I get back from holiday - but I still need the KZN results …
