I will be stepping down as National Chairman at the end of the year. Its time for new blood, new ideas and energy to take us forward. Please think about who can take the reins over, you will be required to vote in a new chairman at Nationals Midmar 2009. Remember, its the sailors who vote so discuss with your friends and parents and come to the AGM prepared.

I have been unable to drum up any support from the KZN sailors therefore in consultation with NSA it has been decided to hold the Dabbie & Oppie GP 5(scheduled for Sterkfontein Dam) at Aeolian’s club, North Bay Vaal Dam,on the 9 & 10 May. These are the same dates that were scheduled in the Youth calendar.
At the same time that the regatta is taking place we will organize some training for the novices etc from sailing schools along the lines of our recent very successful sailing weekend at Aeolians. Therefore everyone is welcome whether racing in the regatta our just sailing for fun or learning. (Even the Love Boat’s are welcome)
Will the winners of last years Sterkies, please get the silverware back to us – Tim Forson Dabbies, not sure if there is a Oppie Trophy, the winner was Nikolai Sivertsen.
I must stress that this is an event open to all Juniors and not only those from a specific club, so please forward this mail to those not on my mailing list.
REMEMBER THIS OUR GP 5 EVENT SO DON’T MISS IT
Further details will follow.
Hi,
You may recall, I mentioned that we have plans for a Dabbie training weekend at the Vaal. Well thanks to NSA we are going to have a junior all class big bash at Aeolians on the 7th & 8th of March.
So cancel all those other plans like water polo, cricket, baseball, Ballet etc sailing is where you will get the most action. J (Yes I know a couple of Dabbie guys who are into tights) .More details will follow, but we will have a few trainers for every experience level and every class. If you need any help call me. So far it looks like a camping and self catering weekend. If you haven’t been to Aeolians I assure you, you will have fun. Parents are most welcome.
SO TAKE A KOKI AND WRITE THE DATE ON THE FRIDGE DOOR, AND MARK THE CALENDER IN THE LOO. (Everyone should have a calendar the Loo) SPREAD THE WORD ON MIXIT, FACEBOOK, MYSPACE, SKYPE, SMS, YOU TUBE etc
Rob gee there are so many, Rob Morris – please see if you can organize a contingent from Mountain.
After this weekend, there is no ways the Western Cape will be able to dominate at Nationals in December and I am dying to return the Dabbie team racing wooden spoon to where it belongs. I have copied the Cape guys to make them nervous J

I wonder how much sailing is going to happen on saturday. I would imagine that most yacht Clubs will have their premises crowded with Yachties glued to the TV sets.
All I can say is that lets give the boys our support as I believe that we can bring the trophy back home where it belongs.

For those of you that dont know Boskop Yacht Club, if you ever get a chance to sail there make the effort. The water is clean, the surroundings great and the hospitality excellent. The Dam and club is located between Carletonville and Potchefstroom and is an easy drive from JHB. We camped under some shady trees and were made to feel very comfy.
The Dabchick turnout was not good as many could not make it for various reasons. Tim Gibbons, as he did last year, placed his stamp on this event. he was challenged by Gareth Baxter , who managed to win a race. However the best Gareth could do was keep up to Tim for most the regatta.Warren keeps on showing improvement and at times tangled with the front runners. James only managed to get there on Sunday, but seemed to be going well.
The winds on Saturday were light but came through nicely on Sunday morning. Overnight we experienced a huge thunderstorm which took out the electricity and our intentions of watching England take out France in the RWC. Anyway, we were rewarded by the Bokke on Sunday.

The annual Boskop Open regatta is scheduled to take place on the 13 and 14th October. This is also our GP 3 regatta, so its important that you attend.
Boskop’s hospitality is legendary and sailing is always good, so if your races are bad at least come for the social.
