All dabchick sailors have been invited to join a regatta in Maputo – herewith the NOR

NOTICE OF RACE

RULES

The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS)

2005-2008, The Equipment Rules of Sailing (ERS) 2005 – 2008, the Class Rules of the

different Classes, this Notice of Race, and the Sailing Instructions.

ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

1.1 The regatta is open to all dinghy classes and will incorporate the Dolphin D’Ouro (the Dolphin

Gold Cup).

1.2 Late entries will be accepted at the venue until the closing of entries 30 minutes prior to the first

race.

CLASSIFICATION

The ISAF Sailor Classification Code RRS Appendix 2, Regulation 19 shall apply.

FEES

1.3 Regatta Entry Fee : MZM 200 or ZAR 50.00.

1.4 Entry Fees shall be paid prior to the close of Entries and Registration.

1.5 To assist catering and accommodation arrangements, the R50 regatta fee is requested as a

deposit from SA participants.

SCHEDULE

1.6 Registration: Saturday 7th July 2007 from 08:00 to 10:30

1.7 Dates of racing: Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th July 2007.

1.8 Number of races: 6

1.9 First race at 10h30, Saturday 7 July 2007

SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

Sailing Instructions will be available from the Regatta Secretary on completion of registration

formalities.

VENUE

Racing will take place in Maputo Bay, from CLUBE MARÍTIMO DE DESPORTOS, Maputo,

Mozambique.

THE COURSES

Details of course shall be provided in the sailing instructions.

PENALTY SYSTEM

The rules 44.1 and 44.2 (7200 penalty turns) will apply.

SCORING

1.10 The Low Point System of Appendix A4.1 will apply.

1.11 Four races are required to be completed to constitute a series.

1.12 (a) When fewer than 5 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her

race scores.

(b) When from 5 to 6 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of

her race scores excluding her worst score.

1.13 There will be 3 scoring groups

(a) Dolphin

(b) Optimist and 0´9rs

(c) Other classes (by handicap)

SAFETY

1.14 Yachts shall comply with their class buoyancy and safety requirements.

1.15 All competitors shall wear at all times while afloat in a yacht a personal buoyancy aid capable of

supporting a 5 kg. steel weight. Wet or Dry suits do not constitute adequate buoyancy!

PRIZES

Prizes will be awarded at the discretion of the Clube Maritimo de Maouto Executive Committee.

DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race.

Neither the Organizing Authority nor its officials or other persons associated with the

organization of the event will accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or

death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

INSURANCE

It is suggested that each participating boat be insured with valid third-party liability insurance

with a minimum cover of R 1,000,000 per event or the equivalent.
