Manex SAS Western Cape Sailing Championships 2007

The following article was sent in to me at sailing360 by user DyR (one guess at who that is…) - see the original article here.

The 2007 MANEX SAS Western Cape regatta was a good one. Although only 6 races were sailed in the Dabchick fleet, it was challenging racing.

The first day the wind blew and it was the likes of the larger sailors who claimed the 1st’s. The first race went to Ross Dyer, with David Eastman andJJ Liddiard all following respectively. The second Race of the Day was won by Andrew Hill who was chased by James Stock and Ross Dyer.

On the second day the winds blew less significantly than the first however there was still plenty of wind. All the three races were won by Ross Dyer, seconds went to James Stock, Andrew Hill and Danny Jarvis.

On Sunday the wind was non existent and no races were completed.

Mon Brought with it some light to medium wind. One race was Sailed and places went to 1st; Ross Dyer, 2nd; Daniel Moreau, 3rd; Alexander Mc Clarty.

All enjoyed the event and well done to all the sailors…Till next time…

Dabchick an international class?

In recent weeks we (the class) has received a request from ex South Africans in Australia for plans. Our Technical team are in touch with them to supply the plans. I have no doubt that if they build them, their youth sailors are going to find out what they are missing.

On top of that,we have received enquiries from Mozambique for costs of 2nd hand boats and new boats. I have supplied them with the detail and put them in touch with Steve Du Toit. Our Mozambique contact has invited any any interested Dabchick sailors to join a Regatta in Maputo in JUly any takers?
